MiBAC™ Jazz Improvisation Software Version 1.2.2 Release
Northfield, MN--June 26, 1990--MiBAC Music Software, Inc. has recently
delivered a free upgrade of MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software for Macintosh
family computers to all registered users. Responding to market forces and user
requests, MiBAC has: 1) Removed copy protection, and 2) Reduced the price to
$125.
The new version, 1.2.2, is now Apple MIDI Manager compatible. Other changes
include enhancements to the Change Styles routines, and the addition of a new
MIDI Echo Thru feature, useful when controlling a MIDI sound module through a
keyboard controller.
MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software is designed for playing and studying jazz.
With MiBAC and the appropriate MIDI synthesizers, your Mac becomes a three
piece jazz band that really swings! MiBAC gives you a way to quickly create
and play along with a jazz trio consisting of piano, bass, and drums. You can
now easily practice, compose, and arrange songs with a jazz band that is ready
to play whenever you are. MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software represents three
years of research and development, and brings jazz study into the age of MIDI
technology.
“MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software is a music industry first, making it
convenient to produce your own jazz improv play-along accompaniments... [MiBAC
is] an innovative product with a multitude of jazz education applications...
Its compositional creativeness and flexibility are impressive,” writes John
Kuzmich, editor of the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE
Journal, Spring 1990).
David N. Baker, Distinguished Professor of Music at Indiana University,
remarks, “MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software represents a breakthrough in jazz,
sure to have an impact on generations of musicians.”
MiBAC songs can be written and played in four jazz styles: Jazz 4/4, Latin,
Slow 4, and Jazz 3/4. There are three tempo dependent substyles within each
style. Styles and substyles can be combined within a song. The song form can
be up to 128 measures long with an Introduction, Coda, and repeating Chorus.
The total song length can be 480 measures or greater, depending on the total
RAM memory available. Songs can be looped so they will play as long as the
user wants. The MiBAC screen display closely resembles standard sheet music,
so musicians feel at home the first time they use the program. The user sets
the form, key, tempo, and then types the chords. At the click of a button
MiBAC composes and plays the music. Because all of the musical ideas used in
MiBAC were played by jazz musicians, MiBAC creates the spontaneity of a live
performance. MiBAC's extensive library of musical ideas insure that every
repeating chorus will sound unique. MiBAC songs can be saved as Standard MIDI
files, which can be read by other sequencer and notation programs.
MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software will increase the productivity of the jazz
student, the jazz educator, and the professional jazz player. Jima Britain,
Manager of the University of Oregon Center for Advanced Technology in Education
says, “ With MiBAC I can write a song in seconds that would take me hours or
days to write using a sequencer program.”
Registered users who purchased MiBAC prior to June 25, 1990 will be granted
free upgrades for the life of the program and a free release version of the new
MiBAC music product available at the end of 1990. Technical support is
provided to all MiBAC registered users.
MiBAC Jazz Improvisation Software requires a Macintosh Plus or later model, two
drives, MIDI Interface, and MIDI synthesizers capable of producing piano, bass,
and drum sounds.
Priced at $125.00, MiBAC is available now directly from MiBAC Music Software,
Inc., and is also distributed by
